1 Flying with your Pet (AVIH)

AVIH service allows passengers to travel with pet on the same flight. Your pet will be delivered like checked baggage.

Accepted animal types: Almost types of birds, cats, and dogs are accepted, exclusive of some special ones including Bulldogs, Terriers, Boxers, Pugs, and their mixes because of its susceptibility to the changes in temperature, humidity, light, pressure, and sound. Besides, other ones displaying aggressive behavior and pregnant pets will not be allowed as well. 

Weight limits: The combined weight of animal and kennel isn’t not permitted to exceed 32kg, on the other hand, pet will be transported by freighter. 

Health Requirements: Pet must be in good condition: good health, free of infectious diseases to humans and other animals, free of odor, and has been properly vaccinated. 

In case of extreme weather, for example, the forecasted temperature is too hot or too cold, this service will be temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of your pet. 

Procedure: Passengers should arrive early at the airport (at least 2 hours prior to the departure time) to complete all procedures. All related documents such as health certificates, import/ export permit, rabies immunization reports, and quarantine certificates must be completed before the flight.

2 Flying with your pet on board (PETC)

Objects: PETC service is only offered to Vietnam Airlines’ Business, Platinum passenger, and SkyTeam‘s Elite Plus passenger. 

Routes: PETC service is only available on flights operated by Vietnam Airlines between Hanoi, Hochiminh City, Danang (Vietnam) and Paris Challe De Gaullle (France); Moscow Domodedomo (Russia); Incheon, Busan Gimhae (South Korea), Guangzhou Baiyun (China), Taipei, Kaohsiung (Chinese Taipei).

Accepted animal types: Only domestic dogs and cats are accepted. Dog breeds and their mixes include Bulldogs, Terriers, Boxers, Pugs are no longer permitted because they are easily susceptible to changes in temperature, humidity, light, pressure, and sound when they travelling by air. The ones displaying aggressive behavior will also not be allowed. 

Age: Pet must be at least 10 weeks old. 

Weight Limits: The total weight of animal and cage must be less than 6kg.

Health requirements: Pet must be in good condition: good health, free of infectious diseases to humans and other animals, free of odor, and has been properly vaccinated.

Procedure: Passengers should arrive early at the airport (at least 2 hours prior to the departure time) to complete all procedures. All related documents such as health certificates, import/ export permit, rabies immunization reports, and quarantine certificates must be completed before the flight.

3 Bicycles and Sizeable Baggage

Vietnam Airlines offers transportation services for bulky baggage such as bicycles and other types of oversized luggage. These items will be transferred like checked baggage. Passengers are required to book this services in advance, at least 24 hours before the flight. 

Objects: all kind of regular bikes, sport bikes, powered bikes (operated by thermo-battery or electric-battery etc…), other accepted sizable items. 

Packaging: Sizeable items must be packaged securely without sharp edges. If the items are bicycles, they must be packed in a box in accordance with the regulations of Vietnam Airlines. 

Procedure: Passengers should arrive early at the airport (at least 2 hours prior to the departure time) to complete all procedures.

4 Sports Baggage

Sport Baggage such as diving instruments, golf clubs, ski gear, etc. can be transported by Vietnam Airlines as checked luggage. Passengers should contact Vietnam Airlines offices at least 24 hours prior to the schedule departure time to make a request. 

Objects: 

- Golf set: Golf set should contain a maximum of 14 golf clubs, 12 golf balls, putting tees, and a pair of golfing shoes. Other items outside this list will not considered as parts of the set. The weight of the set must not exceed 20kg. 

- Skiing set: Skiing set consists of a set of skis, a pair of ski poles, and a pair of ski shoes or boots. Other items outside this list will not considered as parts of the set.

- Surfboard: Surfboard includes one wave surfing device (surfboard, paddle board, body board, etc…)

- Diving equipment: Diving equipment set contains of 1 diving suit, 1 snorkel, a pair of fins, and 1 diving mask. Items such as pressure gauges and tanks are not permitted because these items are highly flammable. 

Packaging: The object needs to be packed carefully so that there are no sharp-pointed angles or other characteristics that might be dangerous for people around or damage seats, walls, or other areas on the flight.

5 Strollers, Wheelchairs

Foldable carriage devices like wheelchairs, prams, infant strollers, pushcarts will be transported freely by Vietnam Airlines. Passengers should contact Vietnam Airlines offices at least 24 hours prior to the schedule departure time to make a request and arrive early at the airport (at least 2 hours prior to the departure time) to complete all procedures.
